Slice of Americana

Thank you to all who work in service of our country (past and present) so I can enjoy the freedoms that I do.  My gratitude is heartfelt.

This Memorial Day weekend was the best in recent memory. (likely better, I just can't say for sure...)

SALE!

I nearly had a stroke when I walked through the doors of my LYS and learned they had 50% off EVERY YARN in the store.

I was stuttering by the time I left...

Saturday took me to my friend's farm where I traded pavement and street lights for green grass and lightning bugs...

'Farmhouse' doesn't quite capture the home on their property.  This is more 'party house' meets ''rustic artist' with a left turn at whimsy.

My friend's husband has used wood from the property to rebuild the railing in the center hall..

...and who needs a living room when you can have a second bar?!

Wood harvested from a barn on the property

When the band's not playing, the instruments lie in waiting...

Again, wood from the barn as material for the table and instruments
while everyone's out back roasting marshmallows on the fire!

How is it...

...that (on a Fri night) I am willing to publish the fact that I love my knitting library?

Or that I find satisfaction in my sorted (not sordid) virtual library on Rav?
(not that there's anything wrong with that..)

Still - nothing replaces the charm of a pattern like this one in my mom's own hand written some 50 years ago...

Notice how many times the word "knit" appears

Always listen to your mother!

About Yarn Already!

3 posts from a blogger named "The Yarn Poet" and nadda about yarn....what up?!

As you know "spinning (a) yarn" is not always about fiber, but enough telling tales of canines, fauna, family, and flasks.  Today is about "When Hairy met Sally".

Kid Silk Haze, this is Sally.
Sally, this is Kid Silk Haze.

"Come here often?"

In fact, I do.

I can't get enough.  I've been headoverheels, can'tfightthisfeelinganymore in love with this yarn since the day we touched.

"Whisp of a sweater"
My (a'hem) first....

Which led to:

"Kitten"

and so on...
But what really put me over the moon was this:

"Boho Chic"

THIS is where Kid Silk Haze meets Crochet (don't tell knitting), and wow! did sparks fly.

Get a room.

I only left for a minute...

The yarn just fell like that.

Sooooo....

I blog therefore I am.
All writing and no knitting makes Sally a dull girl

This is a lot of pressure.
